The All India Geomembrane Manufacturers Association (AIGMA) held its meeting on 4th August 2025 in Pune, marking another important step in the Association’s journey following its foundation in July. The session brought together manufacturers from across the industry to deliberate on the Association’s future direction and strengthen its role as a collective voice.
The meeting opened with an address by Mr. Makrand Appalwar, who highlighted the importance of AIGMA as a united platform for geomembrane manufacturers. He emphasized that the Association would play a crucial role in building credibility, raising industry standards, and ensuring stronger representation at state, national, and global levels.
Mr. Prakash Rijal, Secretary, presented the agenda for discussion, covering membership enrollment, fee structure, operational framework, and the long-term sustainability of the Association. His remarks set the stage for thoughtful and constructive discussions among members.
All members actively participated in the deliberations, sharing perspectives on the key challenges facing the industry, including market dynamics, policy representation, and the need to enhance awareness of quality standards such as BIS certification. The conversation also focused on how AIGMA could best serve its dual purpose: representing the industry effectively while supporting farmers through reliable geomembrane solutions for water conservation and agriculture.
Mr. Rajesh Rohida, Mr. Sumit Kalani, Mr. Ashok Jhavar, Mr. Prabhakar Kakde, and Mr. Anil Chaudhary contributed their thoughts during the meeting, underscoring the importance of collaboration, transparency, and accountability. Their inputs reinforced the Association’s vision of creating a strong, representative, and farmer-focused industry body.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Pandurang Sonawane, President, who acknowledged the contributions of all members and reaffirmed AIGMA’s mission to promote quality, sustainability, and responsible growth within the geomembrane sector.
